This question was one of the most asked questions until Steve jobs said the answer himself.
Because he liked Apples:
When he was thinking of a name for his company, he was on a diet that consisted of only fruits. And being on his diet he really liked Apples and he thought that this name sounded “fun, spirited and unintimidating."
And the second reason being:
Because of the Phone Book:
At that time, companies would tend to choose names that were on the top of phone books so that they could have some exposure. Steve Jobs saw that as an opportunity, he already liked the name "Apple" and it would also come on the top of the list and even above the rivals and Atari (in the company he worked for before).
And the third reason being:
Because they cannot think of anything better:
They thought of the name for several days but couldn't think of anything better than "Apple". They tried to think of many names but nothing was as good and convenient as the term "Apple"
Hence they Stuck with the name Apple
